Position Responsibilities:
Resource Advocate - Marsha & Marian's Neighbors Youth Shared Housing Program:
VCU School of Social Work is hiring a time limited resource advocate for a grant funded youth and young adult shared housing program for LGBTQ+ youth, pregnant and parenting youth and youth at the intersection experiencing homelessness. This staff member will work with 20 program participants to assess their needs in order to get into permanent housing and access the resources necessary to support goal achievement. The resource advocate will work with the youth individually and in peer support groups to assist them in achieving their goals that promote housing stability. This staff member will be expected to work in a team setting with shared values, community accountability, and shared work to meet youth need.
Required Qualifications:
MSW or BSW with 2 years of experience in the field
Basic computer literacy – Microsoft Office
Mediation skills
Experience and high level of comfort working with LGBTQ+ youth, pregnant/parenting youth, and/or youth of color
Restricted Position: May 1 - June 30, 2023
Hourly Wage: $30/hour, non-benefited

Familiarity with Richmond area & local resources
Expertise in housing law including fair housing
