Position Summary

A postdoctoral position is available in the shock and trauma labs in the Department of Surgery for two years (with possible extension) to study hemorrhagic shock and acute kidney injury. The successful applicant will independently conduct pre-clinical studies of shock to test the effectiveness of new low volume IV resuscitation strategies targeting novel mechanisms of action. Specific duties include surgery, physiological experiments involving capturing of cardiovascular and metabolic data during shock, data analysis, writing and presenting research results, and publication of original manuscripts and grant applications.

Required Education & Experience
  • PhD in biomedical science
  • Animal research experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated experience fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so
