Position Summary:
The technician will actively facilitate ongoing research through direct bench work. Activities may include buffer, reagent, growth media preparation, bacterial cultivation, maintenance of cell lines, protein production and purification, PCR, electrophoresis, ELISA analyses, immunoblotting, and animal handling. The technician will participate in different projects and work with different members of the lab (Ph.D. and MS students, interns, and post-doctoral fellows) depending on the needs and priorities of the lab as they evolve. Approximately 30% of the technicians' efforts may be directed at inventory and equipment maintenance, record keeping, supply inventory, general lab tasks, ordering assistance, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

- Minimum of a BS in Microbiology or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience with basic laboratory research
- Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Candidates with a MS degree or previous demonstrated laboratory experience beyond undergraduate studies will be given preference.
