Job Description
UMSL's Community Innovation and Action Center (CIAC)is hiring a Nonprofit and Community Leadership Content Specialist to provide critical resources to coaches, trainers, and others working to support the early childhood ecosystem as part of theMissouri Supporting Early Childhood Administrators(MO-SECA) project sponsored by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). MO-SECA provides critical training and one-on-one coaching to up to 2,000 early childhood administrators across the state in 2023/2024 and is also supported by UMKC'sInstitute for Human DevelopmentandMidwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership.
This Nonprofit and Community Leadership Content Specialist is anticipated to:
- Serve as a subject-matter expert related the role of early childhood providers as community leaders
- Adapt and strengthen nonprofit leadership and management skills for the early childhood context (which are often applicable even if a provider is not a registered nonprofit)
- Play a leadership role in the development of professional development opportunities for early childhood administrators
- Provide resources and support to trainers who are delivering curriculum and coaches who are working one-on-one with providers
- Collaborate in the development of state-wide tools, connections, or resources to support early childhood providers in effectively serving as community leaders
- Provide technical assistance to early childhood administrators as requested by them and their coaches
- Plan and facilitate sessions for MO-SECA team members to increase nonprofit and community leadership supports
This is a hybrid position supported by grants (currently until December 31, 2024). Pay for the role is $60,000 to $68,500 annually with competitive benefits. Together with several additional new project staff, the Nonprofit and Community Leadership Content Specialist will play an important role in an exciting statewide training initiative. Alongside CIAC and UMSL leadership, they will also explore how to sustain and continue supporting local nonprofits and communities long-term.
About CIAC:UMSL's Community Innovation and Action Center (CIAC)serves as a convener, collaborator, evaluator, data strategist, facilitator, and research partner across UMSL and the St. Louis Region — including leading theSt. Louis Regional Data Alliance and Coro Fellowshipand supporting a variety of efforts with the Children's Funding Project, St. Louis City and County, St. Louis Community Information Exchange, the St. Louis System of Care, St. Louis Mental Health Board, and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). CIAC works to supportUMSL's missionto deliver exceptional educational, research, and engagement experiences that inform, prepare, challenge, and inspire across the region and state.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in public administration, social work, education, business administration, or related fields.
- At least five years of experience in nonprofit or early childhood education settings.
- Demonstrated ability to support diverse stakeholders with meaningful resources, including research translation, coaching, training, and responsive content development.
