Job Description
The Office of Student Involvement (OSI) Coordinator for Student Activities oversees and assists in developing activities, events, and programs designed for the social, cultural, and instructional enrichment of students and which create a vibrant campus environment that supports student recruitment and retention. The Coordinator of Student Activities is responsible for the growth and maintenance of Office of Student Involvement campus-wide program initiatives, the creation and implementation of strategic late-night and weekend programs, and the development of extracurricular and co-curricular student engagement programs.
The Coordinator of Student Activities will provide oversight for administrative functions of student activities including but not limited to program assessment, management and maintenance of the program budgets, student leader training programs, and serving on campus committees. The Coordinator for Student Activities reports directly to the Associate Director of Student Involvement.
Key Duties Include
- Advise the University Program Board in organizational development, program development and execution, officer training and transition, and financial management
- Supervise the Student Programs Manager for Student Activities
- Coordinate the student-run Homecoming committee and oversee all aspects of the annual celebration (spring semester)
- In collaboration with the Coordinator of New Student Experience Programs, develop and implement co-curricular student activities, which provide a welcoming campus environment and support student recruitment, retention and the successful achievement of academic and career goals.
- Oversee and assist in developing activities, events and programs designed for the social, cultural and instructional enrichment of students
- Serve as the primary point person for the implementation and growth of campus-wide program initiatives such as the Welcome Picnic, Mirth Week, etc.
- Responsible for the office's Tiny Tritons program. A program geared towards children associated with the UMSL community ages 3 to 12. The program typically involves monthly events for families and their children.
- Design events/programs targeting for our commuter student populations, e.g. the Commuter Cash program
- Plan the annual Student Leadership Awards, including nominations, applications, judging, ceremony, etc.
- Cultivate and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with campus partners, faculty and staff, and the general public to assist in the promotion and marketing of campus engagement activities
- Assist in the development and implementation of institutional policies and procedures related to student event management
- Conduct assessment and evaluation initiatives utilizing assessment instruments to identify the extent to which student engagement activities support the University's mission and vision and student development
- Design and coordinate educational development programs which are grounded in student and leadership development theories
- Attend Division of Student Affairs meetings, programs, and professional development opportunities as assigned by supervisor

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $20.05 - $24.43 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in College Student Development, Higher Education, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience working with student organizations and/or student involvement
- Knowledge of student development theory, legal issues in higher education, and risk management practices
- Experience supervising student staff or graduate assistants
- The candidate must possess the ability to work effectively in a team and fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines. There will also be times when the candidate will be expected to complete tasks, make decisions, and communicate with staff with little or no supervision. Must be able to multitask and take initiative when necessary
