About the Business Development Champion Role
Reporting to the Vice President for Strategy and Growth, the Business Development Champion will become a champion of Apex Media Partners and advocate our products, processes, and operations. This will be accomplished through cultivating relations with CMOs, their team members, and other executives representing qualified prospects.
More specifically, The Business Development Champion will initiate sales and the generation of Apex Media Agency offerings by:
- Generating sales leads
- Qualifying sales prospects
- Conducting presentations to appropriately qualified sales prospects
- Providing specific agency media offering information
- Building rapport with the prospects
- Providing the agency sales team with qualified, interested prospects
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct client inquiries to determine pain points for engaging qualified leads in sales calls.
- Strategize, prepare, and manage email campaigns to create leads based on sector-specific pain points.
- Research and identify companies within Apex Media Partners business sectors and perform market analysis to identify areas of opportunity and growth.
- Develop a lead generation profile of a potential prospect.
- Identify a targeted list of prospects to engage.
- Quickly build a robust pipeline of qualified lead opportunities.
- Conduct daily outreach to prospects introducing Apex Media Partners via outbound calls (primarily cold calls), personalized emails through email campaigns, and targeted LinkedIn messages.
- Qualify new business leads by confirming opportunities our solutions can solve, budget availability or restrictions, access to decision-makers, and implementation timelines.
- Create new prospect leads through lead generation.
- Build effective relationships with prospects by assessing the fit between client's needs to Apex Media Partners' offerings.
- Create awareness and demand for Apex Media Partners' offerings.
- Create focused campaigns in specific Apex Media Partners' sectors.
- Conduct prompt, polite, and persistent follow-up calls, emails, and requests.
- Responsible for attaining assigned lead generation benchmarks for each specific market vertical, e.g., Distance Learning, Humanitarian, Non-profit, etc.
- Meet and exceed weekly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets, such as: discovery meetings booked, emails sent, or similar metrics within a given timeline.
- Create and maintain CRM by updating accounts and leads to ensure the accuracy of pipeline growth, forecasting, and overall prospect and customer details.
- Assist with defining and providing input on the sales strategy and market positioning for prospective business partners.
- Maintain effective communication with the VP Strategy and Growth related to prospecting activities, issues, and required assistance; and provide weekly updates on progress by business sector.
- Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Remain up to date with industry news and utilize your knowledge for building informed prospecting strategies.
Requirements:
- Master at building rapport with a prospect, driving a call with a Sales Executive.
- Skillful with handling objections.
- Experience in marketing campaigns which effectively communicate with Chief Marketing Officers/ Directors/ Managers and result in engaging conversations.
- Proficient at follow-up contact with each prospect, providing them with value-based information to advance a conversation with an Apex Media Sales Exec.
- Extensive experience at cold calling and generating leads.
- Experience interacting with prospect's senior executives and team members.
- Proven experience with developing relationships with prospects and promoting long-term success.
- Ability to identify prospect's decision-makers.
- Experience with CRM systems is essential.
- Self-starter at creating marketing and sales campaigns.
- Proven ability to successfully work independently.
- You make things happen - podcasts, virtual presentations, networking events.
- Comprehensive knowledge of prospecting and networking techniques.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey thoughts clearly, both verbally and written.
- An entrepreneurial spirit - can test things quickly and change tactics as the data tells you to.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple different tasks in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
- Patience with teaching prospects about Apex Media's services and/or media platforms.
- Excellent at measuring metrics that matter, tracking your own performance and being accountable for the results.
Desirable Qualifications:
The desirable Business Development Champion candidate must be a conscientious person - embodying traits such as honesty, dependability, accountability, and responsibility. The BDC must be curious, courageous, self-driven and goal oriented with a sense of urgency. The incumbent will have ambition and a passion for sales, offering grit and optimism to a team environment. Along with a minimum of 7 years' experience with business development, marketing, and /or media buying, the successful candidate will ideally have earned a bachelor's degree in business, marketing or similar study that demonstrates value.
The Business Development Champion must possess strong, compelling, and persuasive sales skills which can be expressed through written, conversational, and presentation scenarios, and must demonstrate through a proven track record of meeting and exceeding benchmarks.
